The technology of voice search is transforming the SEO landscape. Recently, voice search has become increasingly common and dominated the search landscape. The technology has the potential to replace the search bar tech. The concept has now become the new way of making queries on the internet. In accordance with PWC, 65 percent of 25-40-year-olds talk to their voice-enabled devices at least once a day. Therefore, companies need to keep pace with this changing landscape by optimizing their platforms and websites accordingly.

Voice search is a convenient technology that allows users to ask for information by speaking rather than entering text in a search query. The search can be done on any device with a voice input. Voice search has existed for several years and is, therefore, not an entirely new technology. However, in recent years, there has been an apparent breakthrough following the introduction of voice assistants such as Google Assistant, Siri and Alexa.

As voice search is rising in popularity, companies need to ensure online content is optimized to serve this way of searching best.

- Answer specific and frequently searched questions: When creating content that you want voice search to recognize companies should optimize their content by using common phrases that people use in conversations.
- Use conversational language: When people are using their voice devices they are using conversational language which usually includes longer search phrases. Therefore, as a company, it is crucial to focus on long tailed keywords.
- Optimize your content for local SEO: According to The Meeker’s internet trends report, voice search is local to its nature. Therefore companies should focus on keeping their profiles and contact information up to date. Then, they can develop content that more easily answers location-based questions.
- Accurately structure your FAQ page: As the users of voice search are using phrases, you must plan your content wisely. A good start is to organize an adequately structured FAQ page. This way, the content provides an immediate description and answer to their question.
