TikTok vs. Instagram Reels: How to boost your sales?

How to boost your sales with short form videos with Tiktok and Instagram Reels

Your team is wondering how to boost your sales in the next quarter. You want to increase your social media presence by posting short videos to promote your new products. Your team is debating on which platform would be the best to attract new customers between TikTok and Instagram Reels since you saw many businesses promote their products on these two platforms. Tiktok vs. Instagram Reels : Which social media platform is the best for your business?

The quick growth of TikTok

TikTok is a social networking platform that became a new sensation during the pandemic. People were looking for new ways to entertain themselves. Nevertheless, TikTok was popular around the globe way before that. The application was the most downloaded photo and video app in the Apple Store in October 2018. It is now used by 1 billion monthly users all around the world. You can create vertical videos up to 10 minutes long with filters, effects, and background music from an enormous collection of music and self-made sounds. Users have access to a personalised feed with videos from TikTok creators they follow and the « For You » page with personalized videos from a complex algorithm.

Reels: a new addition to Instagram

Instagram first introduced Reels in August 2020 after TikTok’s sudden growth. People use it to share short-form videos, up to 90 seconds long. You can add filters, text, and music from the Instagram library, which has a much smaller collection in comparison to TikTok’s. Reels are displayed on the Explore page on the Instagram application, alongside IGTVs, photos, and stories.

TikTok vs. Instagram Reels : Which is best for your business?

Well, the answer depends on your needs. TikTok is used by a much younger audience like Gen Z as Instagram targets more millennials. Instagram is already a big social media used for different types of content. The audience that sees your Reels can also visit your profile, photos, stories, and shop, which creates a more complete experience. On the other hand, TikTok is used for short videos, making it a little more saturated, but it’s still growing! The fact that TikTok is only a feed of short videos makes it easier for a customer to catch your content since there are no other distractions like photos or stories. TikTok is also used more for entertainment and is less refined and trendier as Instagram Reels are more professional and used by businesses. Influencers are a great way to promote your products. The engagement rate earned by TikTok influencers is much bigger than Instagram influencers, at 18% compared to 3.86% in 2021. Your business can benefit from both TikTok and Instagram Reels with different types of content targeting different audiences and you should start today.
